Our Story

The Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club of Greater Atlanta (PWCCGA) was founded in the late 1970’s by a group of dedicated Pembroke Welsh Corgi enthusiasts. Breeders and pet owners alike took delight in cross-country obstacle courses, costume classes, matches, seminars, and programs at club meetings. The club was approved as a licensed club by the American Kennel Club and held our first specialty in October of 1988. Since that time, the club has AKC approval to host:

 Obedience and Rally Trials

 Herding Tests and Trials

 Farm Dog Certification Tests

 FAST Cat and Coursing Ability Test

Our members know the versatility of the corgi breed and compete in AKC Conformation, Obedience, Tracking, Herding, Agility, and Rally events. Recently many have expanded their corgi’s resume to include Barn Hunt, Lure Coursing, Fast CAT, Scent Work, the READ program, and Therapy Work. Just as our corgis like to be busy, so do our members!

OUR MISSION

The purpose of PWCCGA is to:

  • Advance the breed of the Pembroke Welsh Corgi in all ways

  •  Promote the AKC standard of the Pembroke Welsh Corgi breed as the true breed standard

  •  Encourage sportsmanlike competition at dog shows and performance events

  •  Conduct AKC sanctioned events, matches, and licensed shows

Our members also provide reputable, breeder referral services and coordinate rescue for corgis in need! New members are welcomed and encouraged to learn more by volunteering and participating in our events.

We hope by joining, you grow your love of corgis, in addition to developing new interests and gaining new friends!
