Conformation

Conformation competition is an important part of evaluating Pembroke Welsh Corgis and preserving the qualities that define the breed. Judges evaluate each Pembroke against the breed standard, looking for the distinctive characteristics that make a Pembroke a correct and typical example of the breed. Particular attention is given to structure, movement, temperament, proportions, and overall soundness. A successful Pembroke should have the characteristic outline, balance, and efficient movement expected of the breed, along with the confident and friendly temperament that is part of the Pembroke’s character.

 

Earning a conformation championship is a significant accomplishment, demonstrating that a Pembroke has been recognized by multiple judges as a quality representative of the breed. After earning a championship, Pembrokes can continue competing against other breed champions, providing an opportunity to showcase exceptional examples of the breed and celebrate the qualities that make the Pembroke Welsh Corgi so distinctive.
